Broken record for monthly, calendar and financial year: FII’s first investment of 55,552 crore in the Indian equity market
Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) have created history. They have made a net investment of Rs 55,552 crore for the first time in the Indian equity market. Along with this, these investors have broken the record of any one month, one calendar year and also one financial year. Due to these, the Indian stock market is also at its historic height at this time.
Sensex has reached 44,500. If the Nifty is beyond 13 thousand, the market cap is beyond Rs 174.81 lakh crore. These are all records in their first time.
This year is a better position
This year, FIIs hold better positions in the Indian equity market. In just 8 months of the current financial year, they have made a total investment of Rs 1.48 lakh crore in the Indian equity market. Of this, 55,552 crore has been invested so far this month. On Tuesday, FIIs made a net investment of Rs 4,563 crore.
Investment of 4,738 crore on Monday
On Monday, it had invested Rs 4,738 crore. While this month is still ahead and the financial year is also four months left. In such a situation, this year will be remembered for Corona, while foreign investors will also have a record for investment.
FII investment was started from 1992-93
According to data from depository companies NSDL and CDSL, foreign investors started investing from Rs 13 crore in 1992-93. This investment increased to Rs 5,127 crore in 1993-94. In 2003-04, this investment was Rs 39 thousand crore, then for the first time in 2007-8, it crossed Rs 50 thousand crore. In 2009-10, this figure was Rs 1.10 lakh crore. The highest investment in 2012-13 was Rs 1.40 lakh crore. But that record has now been broken this financial year.
Record is being created in this financial year
The net investment of Rs 1.48 lakh crore in this financial year is now a new record. The total investment of FIIs in the Indian stock market has crossed Rs 10.40 lakh crore. Talk about the calendar year i.e. between January to December, FIIs have invested the most in 2010. 133,266 crore was invested in this year. 101,120 crore was invested in 2019 and 97 thousand crore was invested in 2014.
In 2013, 1.13 lakh crore was invested and in 2012, 1.28 lakh crore was invested.

Talking about sectors, FII has preferred software services. The sector had invested Rs 3,858 crore in the second fortnight of October (16–31 October). However, they have extracted Rs 1,912 crore from the oil and gas sector. During this time 723 crore has been invested in consumer durables, Rs 734 crore in food beverages and tobacco sector. An investment of Rs 760 crore has been made in Capital Goods.
2,601 crore has been invested in the bank sector and Rs. 4,166 crore in Total Financial Services. There is an investment of Rs 337 crore in automobile and auto companies.
Record is being created this month
By the way, FII has made the record of the highest investment in any one month so far in this month. FII has invested a net of Rs 50,989 crore in the business days so far this month. During this period, shares worth a total of Rs 157,588 crore were purchased, while shares worth Rs 106,598 crore were sold. However, in the same month, these investors have withdrawn money in debt.
35,587 crore removed from debt
Statistics show that FII invested Rs 56,207 crore in debt while withdrawing Rs 91,795 crore. That is, they netted Rs 35,587 crore from debt. Except for one day in equity, where FIIs invest every day, they have withdrawn every day in debt. On 23 November, FIIs invested Rs 4,738 crore in net and with this, the net investment figure crossed 50 thousand crore.
