The command of the famous footwear company Bata has come into the hands of an Indian for the first time. Sandeep Kataria has been appointed as the global CEO of Bata. Earlier, he was the CEO of Bata India CEO. He has been promoted as the Global CEO of the company.
Sandeep Kataria became Bata’s boss
Sandeep Kataria has been made the global CEO of Bata with immediate effect. This appointment becomes special because, for the first time in the 126-year history of Bata, an Indian has been elected as Sandeep Kataria for this post. Sandeep Kataria will replace Alexis Nasard, who was in this position for almost 5 years. Kataria joined Bata India as CEO in 2017.
24 years long experience
Prior to this, he has served for 24 years in big companies like Unilever, Yum Brands, and Vodafone. Sandeep Kataria, who did engineering from IIT Delhi, is a gold medal winner in the 1993 PGDBM XLRI batch. Sandeep Kataria has got a place in the ranks of Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai. There are some leading companies in the world that the people of India lead/run. Satya Nadella is the CEO of the well-known computer company Microsoft and Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Alphabet.
Take Bata to a new height
Under his leadership, Bata India doubled its profits since 2017 when Sandeep Kataria stepped into Bata India as CEO. Bata focuses her attention on young customers in particular. He tried to change the image of Bata from a campaign like ‘Surprisingly Bata’. In 2019-20, Bata India had a revenue of Rs 3,053 crore and a net profit of Rs 327 crore. On this progress, he said, “I feel honored by the success of Bata. I will continue to work towards making Bata’s glorious history of 120 years of ‘shoemakers’ world even more glorious.”
