Invest India receives UN Investment Promotion Award, PM Modi wishes all the best
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has declared ‘Invest India’ as the winner of the United Nations Investment Promotion Award 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Invest India for winning the United Nations Investment Promotion Award. Modi tweeted that the award is proof that our government is focusing on making India the world’s favorite destination for investment and making business more accessible (Ease of Doing Business).
The award is given to the world’s investment promotion agencies for their notable achievements. The award ceremony took place in Geneva, headquarters of UNCTAD on Monday. The award reflects the notable achievements of the world’s investment promotion agencies. It is based on an assessment of the functioning and activities of 180 national investment promotion agencies of UNCTAD.
UNCTAD outlines good activities
In this context, the Ministry of Commerce said that ‘UNCTAD underlines the good activities adopted in Invest India. This includes trade rebate forums, special investment forums, webinars (events organized on the internet) series, related activities on social media, and emphasis on measures to tackle Covid-19.
National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency ‘Invest India’ has also shared long-term strategies and activities for investment promotion in high-level meetings of UNCTAD.
