Cabinet Decisions: Self-reliant India Employment Scheme approved
The government has approved the Self-Employed India Employment Scheme to increase employment in the country during the Corona period. 1584 crores will be spent on this in the current financial year. During the scheme period of 2020-23, a total of 22,810 thousand crores will be spent on this scheme. The scheme will benefit 58.5 lakh employees. The proposal related to this was approved in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The cabinet also approved the PM-Public Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-Vani) to promote the digital revolution in the country. Under this, public data offices will be opened in the country. No license, registration or fees will be required for these. After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed about the decisions taken today. He was accompanied by Prakash Javadekar and Santosh Gangwar. Prasad said that the cabinet also approved the proposal to lay submarine optical fiber cable between Kochi and Lakshadweep.
