Google will delete user data if the account is unused for more than two years
Google’s free version of services like Gmail, Drive or Photos is a wake up call for users. Google has said that the data of users whose account will remain inactive for more than two years will be deleted. Google will implement this rule from June 1, 2021, but it will not apply to users who have taken additional storage capacity from it.
User limit will be fixed from 1 June 2021
In November, Google said that from June 1, 2021, it will decide how high quality photos users can keep in its cloud based back up service. The total limit of 15 gigabytes will be fixed for files and photos to be kept in Google’s document editing services. Earlier, only the original quality image i.e. very high resolution copy was counted in the limit.
Exercise to keep profit margin safe
Experts say that Google is taking this step to keep its profit margin safe. Google’s profits have declined in recent years due to lack of expected revenue on large-scale investment in cloud storage systems. The company has planned to fill this gap with more sales this year. For this, it is adjusting the facilities provided under the subscription service Google One of the additional storage capacity.
