Samsung’s mobile phone shipments in 2020 were less than 30 crores, the lowest for the first time in 9 years

South Korean company Samsung has shipped less than 300 million (30 crores) units this year. The company has the lowest shipment history of 9 years. The company has seen a decline in shipments this year due to Covid. However, the company plans to ship 307 million mobile phones in 2021, of which 287 million will be smartphones and the rest feature phones.

Shipped 270 million mobiles

According to a report by South Korea’s ET News, in 2021 the company is planning a phone shipment, in which it wants 14 percent growth compared to 2020. Samsung shipped a total of 189.4 million mobile phones by the end of the third quarter this year. Including figures for the fourth quarter of 2020, it has shipped a total of 270 million mobile phones.

Samsung’s annual shipments are less than 300 million units in 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic, the lowest for the first time in nine years. According to a company source, the South Korean company wants to be conservative in 2021, despite Huawei’s restrictions.

Samsung will focus on the 5G model

Samsung is reportedly focusing on increasing the number of 5G models and strengthening the sales of low budget and mid-budget phones next year. According to the report, the company plans to produce 49.8 million flagship models including the Galaxy S21 series and foldable smartphones.

According to the report, 55 million smartphones will be manufactured by Joint Development Manufacturers (JDM). Therefore, 20 percent of smartphones shipped in 2021 will be manufactured by JDM.
