BHEL gets Rs 3200 crore hydro project contract, to be set up in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Public sector engineering company BHEL on Thursday said it has received contracts worth Rs 3,200 crore for hydroelectric projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. BHEL said in a statement that BHEL has received contracts worth Rs 3,200 crore for the electro-mechanical project (E&M) for the work related to pump-motor sets of hydroelectric project in Andhra Pradesh and irrigation schemes in Telangana.
The company said that an E&M contract has been awarded for 12×80 MW Polavaram hydroelectric project in Andhra Pradesh. The Polavaram project, being developed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited, is in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The order of the pump mater sets for the LIC project in Telangana has 15 sets for Kaleshwaram LIS and 13 sets for Palamuru Rangareddy LIS.
BHEL has got all these orders under the EPS (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract. Large equipment for these projects will be manufactured at BHEL’s manufacturing units at Bhopal, Jhansi, Rudrapur and Bangalore.
BHEL accounts for 45 percent of the country’s total installed hydropower capacity and BHEL’s portfolio consists of more than 500 hydroelectric sets. BHEL is established as a leader company in the hydro business segment.
