Because of this, people’s spending on apps also increased compared to last year.

Apple paid $200 billion to developers

The California tech company says people spent the most on Games Apps between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. At the same time, on 1 January 2021, people made a new record of spending on the app store in a single day (Single Day Spending). On the first day of the year, people spent $54 million on apps, which was $386 million on the first day of 2020. Apple reported that its users downloaded the most Zoom and Disney Plus (Disney+) apps in 2020. The company has paid $200 billion to the developers, which was $155 billion a year ago.

iPhone maker Apple said that 90 percent of US retailers are accepting payments through Apple Pay mobile payments. At the same time, Apple Book has 9 crore active users every month. The company also mentioned Apple Music and Apple TV Plus. The company has earned $53 billion through services in 2020, which is 20 percent of Apple’s total revenue. The app store is the biggest revenue-generating medium for Apple’s service segment. However, regulators and developers have been critical of the share taken from the app makers on behalf of the company. In December 2020, the company charged 15 percent of the sales from the developers.
