PM Modi praised the contribution of overseas Indians to the PM Cares Fund; Said, India is ready to serve humanity with two Made in India Covid-19 vaccine
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said on 9 January that India is ready to protect humanity with not one, but two ‘Made in India’ coronavirus vaccines. PM Modi said that the world is not only waiting for India’s vaccines for rescue from Covid-19 but has also looked at how it runs the world’s largest vaccination campaign. On the occasion of 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, PM Modi said on the merits of Indian democracy that at one time doubts were expressed on Indian democracy, but today the strongest and vibrant democracy in the world is in India. Apart from this, he appreciated the contribution made by overseas Indians to the PM Cares Fund on this occasion. The conference was addressed by PM Modi through video conferencing and its chief guest was Suriname President Chandrika Prasad Santokhi. The main theme of the conference is ‘Contribution to Self-reliant India’.
Questions were raised on the strength of Indian democracy
PM Modi while addressing the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference through video-conferencing said that when the country got independence, it was said that it is a poor country, it is a less educated country and it will be shattered, broken. It was also said that democracy is not possible here. After this, he said on the strength of Indian democracy that today India is united and the most strong and vibrant democracy is in India. PM Modi said that we have never imposed anything on the world nor thought of imposing it but have created curiosity about India.
Corona vaccine shows India’s potential – PM: Referring to India’s fight against Covid-19, PM Modi said that in this era of epidemic, India has again shown what our potential is. In the Corona period, India is among the countries with the lowest mortality and highest improvement in the world. The Prime Minister said that today India is ready to protect humanity with not one, but two ‘Made in India’ coronavirus vaccines.
Praised the contribution of overseas Indians: PM Modi appreciated the contribution of the overseas Indian community and said that the diaspora has made a big contribution in the fight against Covid-19 in and outside the country. Apart from this, he appreciated the contribution made by the diaspora in PM Cares and said that this is strengthening the health system of the country.
Better engagement with the Indian community through ‘Rishta’: The Prime Minister said that every possible effort was made at the diplomatic level to ensure that the jobs of Indians abroad are safe due to the epidemic. He told the overseas Indian community that the Government of India is standing for you, every moment, with you. More than 4.5 million Indians stranded abroad due to Coronavirus lockdown were brought back under the Vande Bharat Mission. Every effort was made to get the right help to the Indian communities abroad on time.
PM Modi said that for better connectivity with the Indian community around the world, a new portal named ‘Rishta’ has been started. Through this portal, it will be easy to contact your community in difficult times, to reach them.
