After the change in privacy policy, people have started making distance with the messaging app WhatsApp. In India too, many celebrities have left WhatsApp and started using other messaging apps like Signal. These include startup companies and older corporates and their senior leaders. These people are now using signals to share their work chats and internal documents.
Mahindra and Tata Group chairman also start using signals
Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra recently installed Signal. Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has been using the signal for some time. Apart from this, many senior officers of Tata Group are also using it. Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma has asked the people of his team not to use WhatsApp for work communication. According to PhonePe’s co-founder Sameer Nigam, half the people in his team have started using the signal. The corporation said through the regional media that “this time is different. Product-wise, the signal has arrived!” The corporation said that all my work groups have been rebuilt. And I have not had to spend anything for this.
Protest against WhatsApp in America’s Silicon Valley

WhatsApp download dropped
With the fall of WhatsApp usage, WhatsApp downloads have fallen worldwide. WhatsApp was downloaded 3 million times between January 1 and 9. Which are the lowest downloads since September 2020. It was downloaded 3.4 million times between 23 December and 31 December. On the other hand, if you talk about the signal, it was downloaded 18 lakh times during 1 to 9 January whereas between 23 December and 31 December it was downloaded by only 14 thousand people.

WhatsApp again clarifies, messages will remain encrypted
In view of the increasing number of dropouts, WhatsApp again issued a statement on Tuesday. It states that its new policy will not have any effect on personal chat. In a tweet, WhatsApp said that these chats will remain encrypted end-to-end. That is, only the person sending and receiving the message can read it. The head of the company, Will Cathcart, wrote in the blog that the new policy would not affect how people chat with their friends and family. This data will not be shared with Facebook for advertising.
