This company got the job of making this state-of-the-art train set, will be built in these cities
Information received from the Ministry of Railways, this tender worth Rs 2211 crore has come out in the name of Medha Servo Drives Limited. Actually, some Chinese companies were also involved in the race to build this train. But the railway has already shown them the way out.
A spokesperson of the Ministry of Railways said that in this tender the design, development, manufacture, supply of Vande Bharat type train set, its integration, testing and testing with railway system (Design, Development, Manufacture, Supply, Integration, Testing and Commissioning), all included. After the supply of the train set, the company will also have to do annual maintenance for five years. Under this, 44 train sets with 16 compartments are to be built.
Swadeshi Train
The Railway Board had already made it clear that this train set would be completely Swadeshi Train. Therefore, before the tender was finalized, several stage meetings were held with the industry. After that it was decided that at least 75 percent of the components in its manufacture would be made in India. This is expected to give a boost to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission.
Medha Servo Drives Successful
In this tender process of 44 train sets of Railways, 3 bidders participated. The lowest offering among them was from indigenous manufacturer M/s Medha Servo Drives Limited. It has assured to successfully meet the condition of using minimum local content of at least 75% of the total tender value. Medha had submitted a tender of Rs 211,64,59,644 (Twenty two hundred eleven crores, sixty four lakh, sixty nine thousand six hundred forty four rupees) for 44 train sets consisting of 16 coaches.
Where will these train sets be made
The tender of the Vande Bharat train set may have been won by Medha Servo Drives Limited, but it will be built only in railway carriage factories. The railways will have 24 rakes in the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, while 10 rakes in the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Punjab. The modern coach factory in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh will also have 10 racks. Its first 2 prototype racks will be delivered in 20 months. On successful commissioning thereafter, the company will deliver an average of 6 racks every three months.
Tender turned out last year
Indian Railways is continuously making efforts to increase the speed of trains in the country. In the same direction, in September last year, the Railways had again tendered for 44 Vande Bharat trains. At the same time, the Railways had made it clear that 44 Vande Bharat Racks would have to be made under the Make in India campaign. At the same time it was also made clear that these train sets would have to be built at the Railway’s Chennai (ICF/Chennai), Kapurthala based RCF (RCF/Kapurthala) and Rae Bareli MCF (MCF/Rae Bareli).
