The life partner of professionals working in the US on H1B visas got a big relief. The Trump government proposed a moratorium on the Obama government’s permission to work on H4 work permits. Due to this, the sword of uncertainty was hanging over them for the last four years. Now the Biden government has rejected Trump’s decision.
In FY 2019, 11.8% of applications came from China
Most professionals working on H1B visas in the US are Indians. In FY 2019, 74% of H1B visa applications were from Indians and 11.8% of applications came from Chinese citizens.
Foreigners are no longer aliens, will be called non-citizens
The Biden government has done another job for immigrants coming from abroad. He has proposed a new name for them ‘Non-Citizens’. They included this proposal in a bill sent for major changes in the rules within the US Citizenship Act 2021.
Proposal to remove dependent children from the maximum number of green card applicants
The changes that the US government has proposed to make in the immigration law, the Immigration Act, include reducing the backlog of green card applicants. For this, it is proposed to remove dependent children from the maximum limit fixed on the number of green card applicants. This will also benefit Indians a lot as they have more number of such applicants.
Minor children will not have to apply for permanent citizenship separately when they are attaining majority
The proposed change in the immigration law will solve the problem of children being out for permanent citizenship of the United States. That is, no matter how long it takes for the parents to get the green card, but at the time of application, their minor children will not have to give a separate application if they are attaining majority.
