According to a New York-based podcast analytics and attention company, podcast use is growing rapidly worldwide. In 2020, 885,262 new podcasts were launched worldwide. These are almost three times as compared to 318,517 in 2019. The company said that due to Corona, they saw a boom.
It said that during March-April last year, a worldwide lockdown started. This is why podcasts became part of people’s routine life. Of the new podcasts produced, 30% have only one or two episodes.

A podcast is like a radio show. That is, by speaking, our word is conveyed to the people. The only difference is that it does not require frequency modulation (FM). It is turned on air with the help of internet. Podcasts consist of audio episodes or series of programs.
In 2020, more than 15% of users made money from advertising on podcasts. Over 180% of podcasts were downloaded. More than 160 new ads appeared on the podcast every week. At the same time, 17,000 new podcasts were launched every week.
2 podcasts started every minute
In 2020, the growth of new podcasts grew by more than 280%. More than 300,000 podcasts were launched in 2019, which increased to around 900,000 in 2020. That is, 2 podcasts started every minute in 2020. In 2015 there were just 51,144 podcasts. That is, there has been a growth of more than 17 times in 6 years.
14 times growth in Hindi podcast
Last year podcasts started in different languages around the world. This includes Hindi, English, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and other languages. The Hindi-language podcast has the highest growth of 14.1 times. At the same time, the lowest growth was 1.9 times in English-language podcasts.
Highest 133,107 podcasts in education
Podcasts related to different genre or content were opened worldwide. This includes Education, Society and Culture, Arts, Business, Religion and Spirituality, Self Improvement, Comedy, Health and Fitness and News. However, the number of education podcasts was the highest. The major reason for this was the closure of the school, college during the lockdown. In such a situation, with the help of podcasts, people continued the education of children.
