Telecom department – 5G trial to start in next 2-3 months, Airtel said it will take 2-3 years, Ambani said service will start by December
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has received 16 applications for 5G field trials. The trial of 5G technology can begin in the next two-three months. The Department of Telecom has given this information to the standing committee of Parliament. Also told that indigenous and imported technology will be used in the trial.
The telecom department’s statement came to light when a report presented on Monday by the Parliamentary Standing Committee pulled up the telecom department for delaying the commencement of 5G service. It states that services based on 5G networks have started in many countries. Why is it delayed in India?
The committee had asked why spectrum has not been allowed for 5G trials till now. When the Department of Telecom has said that there is no major problem in starting the trial in the country, then why it has not been started so far. The report said that delay in the trial would further delay the introduction of the 5G service in the country.
5G service can be delayed in start – Parliament’s standing committee
There may be delays in the introduction of 5G services in the country due to problems such as lack of readiness, spectrum-related issues, lack of use case development, and uncertainty over the sale of spectrum for 5G services. Parliament’s standing committee on IT matters expressed this apprehension in its report. The report noted that its study by the committee found that radio waves are not available in sufficient quantity in the country. According to the committee, these are the reasons which may delay the commencement of the 5G service.
Auction of the spectrum to be held on March 1
The telecom ministry has announced the auction of radio waves from 1 March 2021. There will be an auction of the spectrum of Rs 3.92 lakh crore. This does not include the spectrum of bands required for 5G services. The committee was told that 5G services would start in late 2021 or early 2022. In the beginning, it will be for some special purpose only. The expansion of 4G services in India also took 5-6 years. The committee is headed by MP Shashi Tharoor.

Reliance Jio has done successful testing of 5G in America
Reliance Jio, in association with US technology firm Qualcomm, has successfully tested its 5G technology in the US. Reliance Jio President Matthew Oman said at the Qualcomm event that together with Qualcomm and Reliance’s subsidiary company Radisys, we are working on 5G technology so that it can be launched in India soon. Jio and Qualcomm announced that they have achieved speeds of over 1gbps on Reliance Jio 5GNR Solutions and Qualcomm 5G RAN platforms. Currently, 5G customers from countries like USA, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland and Germany are getting 1gbps internet speed facility worldwide.
5G service is available in these countries
The 5G service was first introduced in South Korea, China and the United States. Although India is preparing to start testing 5G right now, but this service has started in 68 countries or their border. It also includes many smaller countries like Sri Lanka, Oman, Philippines, and New Zealand.
5G service companies
Dozens of companies have joined the list of 5G operators worldwide. However, 5G wireless technology was first introduced by AT&T, KT Corporation and China Mobile. Airtel has also started working on 5G technology in India along with Reliance Jio.
How much is internet speed available on 5G?
5G means 5th generation speed. Internet speed on a 5G network is many times faster than 4G. Recently OpenSignal, a company that tests Internet speed, has presented a report related to 5G network. Accordingly, the fastest 5G download speed in the world is in Saudi Arabia. The average download speed on 5G network in Saudi Arabia is 377.2 Mbps. The 4G download speed there is 30.1 Mbps, which is 12.5 times less than 5G. However, Reliance Jio has said to give 1Gbps speed on 5G network in India.
It can also be understood that 377.2 MB of data can be downloaded in 1 second at 377.2 Mbps download speed. That is, a movie of 1GB will be downloaded in less than 3 seconds. The technology that is being used in self-driving cars works on 5G.
