Flipkart to expand loyalty program, emphasis on segments like grocery and fashion

Walmart-owned Flipkart said on Thursday that it is working on expanding its loyalty program, grocery and fashion business this year by continuing to invest in technology and infrastructure. With this, the company is preparing to compete in the Indian e-commerce market. The company, which has seen a huge boom in its business amid the epidemic, said that during the year 2021 the focus is on ensuring the safety of employees and partners.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart Group, said during a Walmart post-earnings briefing “Flipkart Plus, which is a very specific local loyalty program, is a very big priority. Secondly, grocery as a segment is our priority and we are better want to strengthen it by offering a price.”

He said that fashion is another big category in India, but its share is less digitally. So we really want to capitalize on that opportunity. Technology and infrastructure will be two very large investment areas next year and will grow further.
