Now audio-video calling can also be done from desktop, new update in WhatsApp

WhatsApp has released voice calling for the desktop app after a long wait. Now you can make voice calling via WhatsApp from your laptop, computer and Mac. In December last year, WhatsApp supported video and voice calling on desktop for some of its users, but now the company has released the update for everyone.

Regarding the new update, WhatsApp has said that you will be able to make comfortable calling in both portrait and landscape mode from WhatsApp’s desktop app. During calling, WhatsApp for desktop will appear in a separate window whose size you will be able to change. It will be seen at the top during video calling.

Regarding security, the company has said that audio-video calls made through desktop will be completely end-to-end encrypted. Security will also be available on the desktop app only with the mobile device. The company has said that only one call can be made at a time through the desktop, although it has also been said that in the future the feature of group video calling will also be released.

Video calling/meeting platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet are likely to suffer due to the video calling feature on the web version of WhatsApp, as most of the video calls are currently being made through these platforms.
