Audio-based social app! Clubhouse made its debut on Android, heavyweights like Musk-Zuckerberg are its fans
After being exclusive to iOS for over a year, Clubhouse launched its Android app on the Play Store on Sunday. That is, now Android users will also be able to experience the popular audio-based social network for the first time. Although, the beta app is currently live in the US but the company says that the Android app will come to other English-speaking markets and then to the rest of the world.
The arrival of the clubhouse on Android, the world’s most popular mobile operating system, will help increase the app’s popularity. The clubhouse started testing Android apps earlier this year. Users outside the US can pre-register their interest in the app through the Clubhouse page on the Play Store. After the app is available in their country, users will be notified.
The company said in a blog post, “Our plan over the next few weeks is to work to gather feedback from the community, fix any problems we see, and add some final features like payments and club building.”
Giants like Musk-Zuckerberg are also fans of Clubhouse
The Invite-only app allows users to discover and listen to conversations between groups of people. The most popular social media app has millions of followers, including celebrities and tech giants like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. The social audio app lets people gather in audio chat rooms to discuss various topics, be it for sports, technology, inspiration, etc. The rooms are usually divided into two groups: the one they are talking about and who are listening.
Other companies are also working on the lines of Clubhouse
Given the rise in popularity of Clubhouse, there has been a growing trend towards audio-based social apps. Twitter recently expanded the reach of Spaces this month. Meanwhile, Facebook is developing an audio-chat experience that can be added to Messenger. Even Microsoft’s LinkedIn is working on a similar feature.
The clubhouse, launched last year, is valued at $4 billion.
