Tata and Godrej making storage units for Moderna and Pfizer’s Corona vaccine
There is good news on the corona vaccine front. Tata Group company Voltas and Godrej Appliances of Godrej Group are making storage units for Pfizer and Corona vaccines of Moderna. These vaccines have to be stored at very low temperatures. Godrej and Tata are not only increasing the production of vaccine storage units but also upgrading technology.
Blue Star, another company in the cold chain manufacturing sector, is also ramping up the production of medical refrigeration units for covaxin and covishield. Soon they will be supplied in large numbers. In addition, the company is also manufacturing storage units for the Russian vaccine Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccines. The company says that Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines can also be stored in its medical freezer. For this, they have to be stored in dry ice and used quickly.
No Order Found
Voltas will launch its ultra-low temperature freezer in August. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can be stored in these. Godrej Appliances has already developed such storage units for these vaccines and the company will start production when the order is received. Voltas managing director Pradeep Bakshi said that the company is in the process of importing ultra-low temperature deep freezers that can be stored at a temperature of minus 86 degrees. For their production, the company has tied up with a foreign partner. He said that when Pfizer and Morderna vaccine comes to India in August, we will be ready to meet their needs. The company is expanding the production of storage units for Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V.
Godrej Appliances is ready to make such units for vaccine storage in which the vaccine can be kept in minus 80 degrees. The company’s business head Kamal Nandi said that the company will start production as soon as the order is received. He said that the company has developed the product but it has not received any order yet. But orders will start being received after Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccine arrives.
