WhatsApp changed its move, said – currently will not delete users’ accounts
WhatsApp Privacy Policy New Update: The Center has submitted its case in the Delhi High Court on Monday about WhatsApp’s new privacy policy. The Center has said that WhatsApp’s new privacy policy violates Indian Information Technology (IT) laws and regulations. It has also sought directions to the social media platform to clarify whether it is confirming it.
This claim was made before the Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Judge Jyoti Singh during the hearing of the petitions filed by the Central Government regarding the new privacy policy of WhatsApp. Let us know that WhatsApp has implemented its new policy from May 15 and it has not been postponed.
WhatsApp has told the bench that its new privacy policy has come into effect from May 15, but will not start deleting the accounts of users who have not accepted the policy. The company will try to convince those users to accept the policy. Also, the company said that no time limit has been fixed for deleting people’s accounts.
The bench has issued notices to the Center, Facebook and WhatsApp and sought their favor on the plea of the lawyer who claimed that the new WhatsApp policy violates the users’ right to privacy under the constitution. During the hearing, the Center said that according to it this policy is a violation of Indian IT laws and regulations.
It has also been said that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also written about the matter and is awaiting a response. In such a situation the status quo needs to be maintained for the policy to be implemented. At the same time, WhatsApp has opposed the case and said that its rules are in line with Indian IT law and rules and said that its policy has come into force from May 15, but it will not delete the accounts immediately. The court fixed the next hearing of the case on June 3.
