Warner Media merges Discovery Media
The US telecom company AT&T recently announced the merger of its Warner Media unit, which owns CNN and HBO, and Discovery Media. The move will compete with Netflix Corporation and the Walt Disney Company. This is a significant change in AT & T’s strategy. Under this, the telecom and media business will be unified. AT&T will receive $43 billion when the deal is completed. AT&T’s shareholders will hold a 71% stake in the new company, while Discovery Media shareholders will hold 29%.
