Hard disk, pen drives and memory cards sold in India; SanDisk topped with 73%
The storage market has seen a 4 percent increase. The Indian consumer storage market has included it in three types of memory cards, hard disks and pen drives. According to the report on Tuesday, SanDisk leads the three categories in the first quarter. The report has been released by CyberMedia Research of the Indian Consumer Storage Flash Devices Market Review. According to this, SanDisk remains the leader with a 73 percent market share. On the other hand, HP with 3 percent and non-branded hold 17 percent of the market share.
Flash drive most liked
The market grew 15 percent as of the first quarter. Flash drives accounted for the largest share with 64 percent. In which users liked 32GB of storage with 45 percent market share.
The other brand did not contribute much
According to CMR principal analyst Shipra Sinha, the popularity of dual drives came from the growing flash drive market. The market lacked the contribution of other well-known brands except for SanDisk in the micro SD and SD card categories. Which has led to a slight increase in the market overall.
Year-on-year 64GB capacity recorded 16 percent market share and its shipments were recorded 27 percent. According to the report, the entire flashcard market will remain flat by the end of this year due to the sluggishness of the entire micro SD segment.
Impact in supply from the second wave
On the other hand, more demand for dual drives is being raised, which is expected to grow by more than 10 percent of the flash drive market by the end of 2021. According to Sinha, the second wave of coronavirus in the second quarter of 2021 and the halt of supply will have a bad effect. Internal memory usage in smartphones has increased due to which the flashcard market will continue to struggle on a large scale.
