Mobile sold at international level despite Corona era, tops with 138 million unit shipments
According to a new report, smartphone shipments are large internationally and are expected to reach 1.38 billion (138 million) units in 2021. Which is 7.7 percent higher than in 2020 and the highest in 2015. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) ‘Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker’, the same trend is expected to continue till 2022, with 3.8 percent year-on-year growth and shipments reaching 1.43 billion (143 million).
Smartphone market continues to grow
Ryan Reith, vice president of IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers Program, says customers are currently spending more money on PCs, tablets, TVs and smart home devices. Despite this, the smartphone market has not slowed down. 5G was expected to grow by around 130 percent in 2021. Nearly all regions outside China will see a three-digit increase by the end of this year.
With this, China will move ahead in terms of market share. Which will account for about 50 percent of 5G shipments in 2021. While the US with a 16 percent share will be behind it. There will be other major markets such as Western Europe and Asia/Pacific (except China and Japan) that will account for 23.1 percent of the worldwide 5G market by the end of 2021.
Smartphone purchases increased due to the arrival of 5G phones
Anthony Scarsella, research manager for IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers, says that since 2015, the market has seen all kinds of 5G prices continue to rise. At the same time, 2021 will also lead with the biggest increase from year on year. However, the 7.7 percent gain is a tempting change for the market.
We should remember that we are doing good work even in the worst of times. The highest smartphone ASPs in the coming 2021 of 5G is 27 thousand rupees, which is 9.7 percent year on year.
Only top supplier production increased
Reith said that the smartphone market saw growth during last year’s holiday quarter, since then only the top supplier’s production has increased. Within the current markets, there is strong demand for mid-range and low-end 4G phones following the epidemic downturn last year. IDC expects the five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to continue to grow by one percentage point by 2025 with 3.7 percent.
