Delhi Master Plan 2041: Preparation of the country’s capital Delhi has also started for nightlife, now Delhi will also run 24 hours like the big cities of the world like New York and Shanghai. Here too people will now be able to party late at night, go on outings with family, offices and shops will be open 24 hours.
What is ‘Delhi Master Plan 2041’?
In the ‘Delhi Master Plan 2041′, a plan has been presented to make Delhi a ’24-hour city’. In which the economic activities of Delhi will go on day and night. This master plan also talks about developing transport infrastructure on a large scale, affordable housing and creating a healthy environment. This ‘Delhi Master Plan 2041’ has been prepared by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), in which all these things have been included. It has now been placed before the public to know their reactions. In this plan, a blueprint has been presented to change the picture of Delhi in the next 20 years.
24-hour city plan
It has been proposed in the master plan that unauthorized colonies will no longer be allowed to grow in Delhi. It states that after the notification of MPD 2041, urban-rural areas will be developed within two years. It has been said in the draft plan that the population of Delhi, which is currently 1.67 crores, will increase to 3.9 crores. At present, about 30 percent of Delhi’s population is of 30-year-old youth. In such a situation, the master plan will meet the needs of this large age group. Delhi will be made such that it continues for 24 hours.
For this, many policy and structural changes will have to be made. The draft states that the idea of a ’24-hour city’ is being promoted through the Model Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2015 as well as the Night Time Economy (NTE) policy.
Nightlife preparation for people
The night-time economy is getting a rapid boost in many countries. Benefits like an increase in employment and attracting tourists are being received. However, this requires management policies and infrastructure support. MPD 2041 emphasizes that it is necessary to identify nodes and circuits in the city for continuous work, cultural activity and entertainment at night to attract tourists and locals, so that people stay late at night for entertainment.
Commercial areas will be rebuilt
The draft states that by promoting a good nightlife, economic recovery will be done by increasing the use of workspaces and increasing security in the city. Commercial areas in Delhi such as Connaught Place and its extensions, Walled City and Karol Bagh have historically played the role of major centers of trade. It has been said in the draft that an area-based approach will be adopted to revive the commercial areas of Delhi.
Yamuna will be rejuvenated
The draft also proposes to rejuvenate the Yamuna, including building a greenway. Arrangements for cycling and walking along the banks of Yamuna will also be made for public use. Apart from this, a better place for living and education of migrant students will be developed in Delhi, which has become an education hub. Keeping in view the times to come, the parking requirements will also be met.
