Genpact will appoint Covid affected people
Stepping up to help the workforce battling the COVID pandemic, business process management Genpact has announced a program called Rise Together. Under this, the company will directly recruit and train people from the worst affected groups of Covid-19.
In a note to employees on Friday, Genpact CEO Tiger Tyagarajan said, “I am extremely proud to announce today a new program called Rise Together. It aims to help people from communities where families have been severely affected by COVID-19. It aims to enable long-term resilience and recovery to those who need it most.”
The company will train these people for their roles and for this it will use its reskilling platform Gnome. Genpact launched Gnome in November 2018. It works on the principle that an employee skilled in any discipline can help others to teach their skills, irrespective of seniority. Based on an operational model derived from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Collective Intelligence Work, the program is tailored to each employee’s reskilling.
Although Rise Together will be applicable globally, Tyagarajan has emphasized the need for such a program for COVID-affected countries like India. India is slowly recovering from the deadly second wave of COVID-19. During the peak of the second wave in May, more than 4 lakh cases were being reported in the country. Due to this many people lost their families. During April-May, people were battling for oxygen, cremation and medical supplies.
Rise Together will work on three core issues which include placement, training and support
Genpact will recruit through a partnership that will help it access alternative talent sources. The company’s recruitment team will directly outreach, screen, shortlist, interview and select from the population affected by this global pandemic. This includes widows who have lost their husbands due to COVID-19 and families who have lost a key earning member.
