Fake product business growing in America – Millions of fake wireless headphones worth Rs 464 crore seized in 6 months
The US Customs Department has seized more than 3.60 lakh fake headphones, including Air Pods Pro. This data is from October 2020 till date.
Fake Air Pods were also caught by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) two months ago. It was caught in the Cincinnati area of America. These were coming from China with three big shipments. All three of these shipments were fake Apple AirPod packs, which were said to be worth around US $7.16 million (approximately Rs 53 crore).
A large number of products were found in 9 months, although the information about how many Apple products were in it has not been given. Still, it is being claimed that because of the expensive AirPods Pro, fraudsters steal them. US Customs and Border Protection says that in the last 9 months (62.2 million dollars) about 3 lakh 60 thousand fake wireless headphones worth about 464 crores have been confiscated.

The Information has been quoted as saying that fake products are substandard which can be dangerous. The spokesperson said Apple has teams from around the world working with law enforcement, customs, merchants, social media companies and e-commerce sites.
Fake products worth 30 lakh rupees were found in the year 2019
If you look at the data of theft of AirPods from October 2020, it has now reached 3 lakh 60 thousand. In the year 2020, the agency has seized 295,000 fake air pods worth about Rs 460 crores ($61.7 million). At the same time, in the year 2019, the US Customs seized $3.3 million in wireless headphones up to Rs 30 lakh.
Prior to this, the US Chamber of Commerce estimated in 2016 that only 2.5% of the total products manufactured accounted for the confiscated counterfeit products.
