Zoom will have to pay Rs 632 crore to settle the claim of its users in the US

Video conferencing app Zoom has suffered a major setback on the privacy issue. The company will have to pay damages of $85 million (Rs 632 crore) to its subscribers in the US.

In a statement on Sunday, Zoom said: “The privacy and security of our users are top priorities for Zoom, and we take seriously the trust our users place in us.”

Paid subscriber will get $25 each as settlement; it is being talked about paying $25 to Zoom’s paid subscriber and $15 to non-paid subscriber. That would require the approval of Judge Lucy Koh of San Luis California. The company has been asked to improve privacy practices.

Though Zoom collected about $1.3 billion in Zoom Meetings subscriptions from class members, the plaintiffs’ lawyers called the $85 million settlement reasonable given the litigation risks. They intend to seek up to $21.25 million for legal fees.In the past, Amazon was fined Rs 6,545 crore.
