Center told Delhi High Court – Twitter is following new IT rules, appointed officers
There has been a long-standing dispute between Twitter and the central government regarding the new IT rules, although now the central government has said in the Delhi High Court that Twitter is following the new IT rules and under the new rule, the Chief Compliance Officer, Resident Grievance Officer and Nodal Liaison Officer have been appointed. After this statement of the central government, the court has asked for an affidavit, on which the central government has sought some time. Now the matter will be heard in the Supreme Court on October 5.
At the same time, Twitter told the court that all officers appointed under the new IT rules will report directly to Twitter’s head office in the US. Let us tell you that only last week, Twitter has made permanent appointments on these posts which are mandatory under the new rules. Vinay Prakash has been appointed as the Chief Compliance and Grievance Officer, while Shaheen Komath has been appointed as the nodal contact person. Let us inform that Shaheen Komath was earlier in the post of ByteDance Executive Officer.
Let us tell you that earlier in the court, the central government had said in its affidavit that Twitter has failed to comply with the new IT rules of India. In fact, Twitter had made interim appointments on these posts and told the court that these appointments were made through third party contractors.
