Telegram downloads cross one billion, India becomes largest market

Messaging app Telegram has also joined the club of one billion downloads. More than one billion people are using Telegram all over the world. Sensor Tower has given this information. Telegram entered the market in 2013 in competition with WhatsApp, but it benefited the most after the onset of the epidemic and after WhatsApp’s new privacy policy.

According to a report, on August 27, Telegram’s downloads crossed the one billion mark and India has emerged as the largest market for Telegram. This simply means that Telegram has the largest number of users in India. The number of users of WhatsApp in the Indian market is also more than any other country. India accounts for 22 per cent of Telegram’s total downloads. After that Russia and Indonesia have the largest number of Telegram users.

Telegram had 214.7 million installs in the first half of 2021, an increase of 61 percent compared to 2020. Telegram installed 133 million in 2020. It is worth noting in this report, the number of downloads has been given in this report and not the number of active users, although Telegram said last year that its number of active users has crossed the 500 million mark.

Let us tell you that just a few days ago, Telegram has released a big update, after which now 1,000 people will be able to join Telegram’s group video call. Telegram has released the feature of group video calling a few months back. Up to 1000 viewers will be able to join Telegram’s group video calls, although up to 30 people will still be able to join as members. Telegram says that during the video call, you will be able to participate in a lecture as a viewer.
