WhatsApp closed 20 lakh accounts in India in a month, do you also do this

Important news for those who use WhatsApp. If you also send messages to many people at once, then be alert. Your WhatsApp may be turned off. Facebook-owned company WhatsApp has closed 2 million such accounts. This action on the users has happened in the month of August. This information has been given in the report released by the company on Tuesday. The company also said that within the last 64 days, 30 million such accounts have been closed worldwide.

Why was the action taken?

The company has told in its monthly report that in August, 420 users had made different types of complaints. This included 105 complaints about account support, 222 bans, 42 product related complaints and 17 security standards. In the investigation of these complaints, it was found that 20 lakh 70 thousand accounts are working against the rules. So they were closed immediately. Earlier, between June 16 and July 31, three lakh accounts were also closed. The company has also said that 95 percent of the accounts that have been closed were using automated bulk messaging incorrectly. Meaning these people used to forward messages automatically to many people at a time.

WhatsApp will block spam and bulk messages

According to WhatsApp, this kind of action will continue in the future. A WhatsApp spokesperson said, “The company takes user security reports very seriously. We are working to prevent any misuse of the messaging app. Our focus is to prevent spam and the misuse of automatic bulk messaging. We are using artificial intelligence tools and human resources to catch any kind of wrongdoing.”

With the information about the action, the company said that the conversation between two people on WhatsApp is completely safe. The company does not read anyone’s message. It is encrypted end-to-end.

Now WhatsApp will release reports every month

To prevent fake news and other wrongdoings, on 26 May this year, the Government of India implemented the new IT rule. According to these rules, any digital platform company with more than 50 lakh users will have to publish a report every month. In this, they will have to tell how many users made what complaints and what action has the company taken on it? This report is also a part of that.
