Exclusive conversation: To compete with Tesla, Triton, a Gujarati owner of America, will make electric cars and trucks in Gujarat

The name of the company ‘Tesla’ is famous in the world of electric cars. But, now a Gujarati businessman is preparing to compete with Tesla. US-based company ‘Triton’ owned by Himanshu Patel, a native of Borsad, Gujarat, will manufacture electric cars in Gujarat. An agreement will be signed between the Gujarat government and the company on 4th April.

In an exclusive conversation with Bhaskar, Himanshu Patel said that we will set up our first manufacturing plant in Gujarat. We plan to set up a 3 million sq ft state-of-the-art manufacturing plant here on an area of ​​over 600 acres.

There is also a plan to make trucks with cars

Himanshu Patel further said that some time ago I came to Gujarat with my team. During this, there was a meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. There was a detailed discussion with him regarding the manufacturing plant of electric cars. In Gujarat, we are thinking of making trucks along with cars.

Himanshu Patel said that along with the production of electric vehicles in Gujarat, we will also establish a network of electric vehicles. We will soon be in talks with battery manufacturers, auto parts manufacturers and charging station manufacturers. According to the company’s website, Triton manufactures electric cars, trucks and defense vehicles.

Triton had earlier tied up with Telangana

The company had also entered into an agreement with the Telangana government to set up a manufacturing plant in June 2021. However, due to some reasons, the matter could not move forward. The company was about to invest Rs 2000 crore for the plant in Telangana. This could have created 25,000 new jobs. However, now this opportunity is going to be in the hands of Gujarat.

Who is Himanshu Patel?

Himanshu Patel, a native of Borsad near Anand in Gujarat, has been involved in the electronics and electric vehicle sector in the US for almost a decade and a half. They have created two companies Triton Solar and Triton EV. Triton operates on solar power storage and batteries, while Triton makes EV electric cars and trucks. He is also the Chief Economic Development and Energy Advisor to Congressman Pete Sessions’s Crypto Technical Working Group.
