Procter & Gamble India becomes ‘plastic waste neutral’ company

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) American company Procter & Gamble India has become neutral on the issue of plastic waste. The company has achieved this status by recycling 100% of the plastic used in the packaging of consumer goods. The company gave this information on Thursday.

With this, the company has become one of the first manufacturers of everyday use items in India to completely recycle plastic waste. The company’s products include well-known brands like Ariel, Tide, Gillette, Oral B.

Procter & Gamble India said in a statement that it has collected, processed and recycled 19,000 tonnes of plastic packaging waste from across the country for consumer use. This is more than the amount of plastic used in packaging the company’s products sold in a year.

Significantly, many companies like Dabur and Nestle India have already achieved the status of being plastic waste neutral companies.

The company has also announced plans to set up two more solar plants at its manufacturing sites in Goa and Mandideep (Madhya Pradesh).
