NOCC fee for telecom license holders abolished, satellite telephony will get a boost.

Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. On behalf of the central government, a big facility has been given to the companies of the telecom sector. In fact, the central government has announced to abolish the NOCC fee. This fee had to be paid by the licensee companies in the telecom sector which use satellite telephony or VSAT for their services.This is called the Network Operations and Control Center Fee (NOCC). As this fee, the DoT has been charging Rs 21 lakh per transponder annually. Apart from this, an additional fee of six thousand rupees has also been charged according to the different type of antenna.

No NOC fee to be paid

According to the instructions issued by the DoT, no NOCC fee will be required to be paid by the DoT for commercial or captive VSAT services, satellite phone services, national long distance and other telecom licenses.Welcoming this decision of the government, Indian Space Association Director General AK Bhatt has said that it is a very progressive policy which will take the entire telecom industry in the right direction. With this, the companies providing satellite based telephony service will now have the same opportunity as other telecom license holder companies.

There will be more investment in the space industry

He has also said that the government will take more reformative steps to expand satellite-based telephony services in the coming days. According to the goals set by PM Narendra Modi in his meeting with the space industry in the past, there is a need for such a step. He expressed hope that this will lead to more investment in India’s space industry.
