28.5 percent vacant office space in Delhi-NCR, lowest in Pune at 8.5 percent: Report
New Delhi: The National Capital Region-Delhi-NCR has the highest 28.5 percent office space vacant. Whereas Pune has the lowest space left for offices at only 8.5 per cent due to high demand for good space from information technology and relations sectors. Property advisory company Enrock gave this information. Chennai has 10.35 per cent, Bengaluru 11.25 per cent and Hyderabad 15 per cent, according to data on first-class office buildings in seven major cities of the country.
In a statement, Enrock said that among the seven major cities, NCR has the highest office property space at 28.5 per cent. This is followed by Kolkata with 23.5 per cent and Mumbai Metropolitan (MMR) area with about 16 per cent vacant. Anarock said, “Information Technology (IT) or ITeS has been one of the fastest growing sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic. This sector helped in filling first-class office space in the top four IT/ITeS driven cities of the country.
According to the data, Bengaluru has the highest number of first class offices at around 168 million square feet. This is followed by Delhi-NCR with 128 million sq ft, Mumbai metropolis 108 million sq ft, Hyderabad 80 million sq ft, Pune 60 million sq ft and Chennai with 55 million sq ft and Kolkata with 25 million sq ft.
