Air India VRS Scheme: 4500 personnel accepted the offer to take VRS, there will be new hiring.
According to media reports, about 4500 employees of Air India have accepted the VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) scheme offered by the company. This information is coming out of Air India insiders.
The Tata Group, after the acquisition of Air India, had offered an attractive VRS scheme to its existing employees to infuse new energy into the company and to recruit new ones in different operations. This process emerged as a key strategy of the company to infuse new energy into the company.
According to an Air India executive, the airline is currently working on reforms like cutting costs, improving productivity as well as reviving legacy systems and adopting a digital culture.
When Air India was acquired by the Tata Group, Air India had about 13000 employees, of which 8000 were permanent and the rest were on contract basis.
According to a source in Air India, the process of a major change is going on in the company. Officials associated with the company tell that we are going to buy some state-of-the-art aircraft. For this we need top talent with international experience who can operate the new engines and machines.
According to an official of the company, we are working on fleet upgradation, operating flight services to more and more destinations and providing world class facilities to the people on the plane and on the ground.
According to reports, Air India is also looking to buy Boeing’s narrow body planes and Airbus A350 in the coming times to further strengthen the convoy of aircraft with the airline.
Let us tell you that in the month of June, Air India had relaxed the age limit required to take VRS for its permanent employees from 55 years to 40 years.
Along with this, it was also said on behalf of the company that all the employees of the company who will apply for VRS between June 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022, will also be given an ex-gratia amount.
