Google Maps’ Street View feature launched in India, will change the way Maps is used.

After a long wait, Google has launched the Google Street View feature for Google Maps. With the help of Google Street View, users will be able to see panoramic or in simple words, 360 degree maps in Google Maps. Street View of Google Maps was launched globally in 2016 and now after 6 years it has been released in many countries including India. Google has partnered with Genesys and Tech Mahindra for Street View Maps in India.

360 degree scanning of 1,50,000 km of road

With the launch of the new feature, Google has said that for the Street View feature in Google Maps, 360-degree scanning of 1,50,000 km of roads in 10 cities has been done. By the end of this year, it will be done in 50 cities. In partnership with Google, Tech Mahindra has made Mahindra SUV vehicles with cameras available. The Street View proposal was rejected by the government in 2016 for security reasons. These 10 cities include Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Nashik, Vadodara, Ahmednagar and Amritsar.

Data collection will be done under domestic partner

Google has said that the data collection for Street View in India will be done with the help of an Indian partner. Street View API will also be released to developers. For your information, let us tell you that India is the first country where Google has partnered with a local partner for Street View data.

What is Google Street View?

Google’s Street View is already in Google Earth and is also live in other countries. With the help of Street View, you can see the map of a place in the same way as you see yourself standing at that place. Street View will also provide information about the temperature of a particular area. Apart from this, after the new update, the fixed speed limit of any road or area will also be visible.
