Social Media: Twitter said – If the government keeps giving ‘blocking orders’, then our business will be closed.
On the blocking orders being given by the central government, Twitter says that if it continues, then its entire business will be closed. His lawyer said this during the hearing of his petition in the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday. The High Court has directed him to give the complete list of such orders given by the government in a sealed cover.
In the latest hearing of Twitter’s petition against the orders of the Central Government, Twitter’s lawyer said that the government has not even told why it wants to block certain accounts. As per IT Rules 2009 it is necessary to state the reason. Twitter itself will have to tell these account users why their accounts are being closed. His accountability does not end with the users.
in-camera hearing request
The Central Government requested the High Court that the court proceedings should be held in camera. This will not make the hearing public and the parties who are not related to the case will not be allowed to attend the hearing. The High Court said to consider this request.
