Controversy over employees working in many companies simultaneously, Tech Mahindra ready to bring policy if Wipro is telling fraud.
Despite the economic slowdown, three top IT companies Wipro, Infosys and TCS recruited more than 50,000 employees in June. This boom of recruitment has increased enthusiasm among IT employees, but many problems like moonlighting have arisen in front of IT companies. Different opinions of IT companies have also been formed about this. I know…
What is Moonlighting?
After the completion of the office work, the employees are doing other jobs in the remaining time. This trend of working in many companies simultaneously is called Moonlighting.
Why the objection to Wipro?
There are two types of ideology in IT companies. Some are considering moonlighting to be correct and some have objections. Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji has objected to Moonlighting and termed it as a fraud. His statement came after the announcement of the moonlighting policy of food delivery platform Swiggy.
What is the opinion of tech companies?
Former Infosys director Mohandas Pai disagrees with Premji’s stand. Pai said that the agreement between the company and the employee gives an obligation that the employee will give his time to the company for a specified time, in return for which he will get salary. At the end of the working hours, the employee is free to do his other work.
TCS CEO N Ganapathi Subramaniam said the decision to make short-term profits does not make the industry go long. Tech Mahindra MD CP Gurnani says that they will make a policy in this regard. There are no laws in India for moonlighting. Due to the tax policy in the US and UK, the facility has been given.
