Modi to inaugurate World Dairy Conference in Greater Noida on September 12.
New Delhi, Sep 8 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ‘IDF World Dairy Summit-2022’ in Greater Noida on Monday. More than 1,500 delegates from 50 countries will participate in the event.
This information was given by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Purushottam Rupala in a press conference held here on Thursday.
The program will start from September 12 and will last for four days. The theme of the program is ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.
Rupala said, “The Prime Minister will inaugurate this summit on September 12. Delegates from around 50 countries will participate in the event. Over 1,500 delegates will participate in the four-day program.
Rupala said that apart from the Prime Minister, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and other Union Ministers would also address the summit.
The Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat will also attend this global event to be held in India after 48 years. The last time India hosted the International Dairy Congress was in 1974.
The Dairy Summit will bring together experts, farmers and policy planners from the global and Indian dairy industry.
Rupala said, “India ranks first in the world in milk production and the country accounts for 23 per cent of the global milk production. Foreign delegates will share their experiences and discuss about the latest technologies in the dairy sector. We will tell them about our experience.”
Apart from this, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Minesh Shah said that 300 foreign delegates and 1,200 Indian delegates will participate in the program.
“700 to 800 farmers will also participate, most of whom will be Indians,” he said.
It is noteworthy that there are about 80 million dairy farmers in the country and most of them are small and marginal (having an average of two cows). The annual domestic production of milk in the country is estimated to be 220 million tonnes.
