Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said after the cabinet meeting that the West Bengal Maritime Board would issue a letter of intent to the Adani Group, the largest bidder for the project. Approved the proposal to issue letter of intent to the successful bidder Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone for the development of Tajpur port.

Hakim said that the project will directly create employment opportunities for 25,000 people. He said, there will be an investment of Rs 15,000 crore in the development of the port. Apart from this, port related infrastructure development and government investment will be Rs 10,000 crore. Altogether Rs 25,000 crore will be invested in this.
