Google said on Tuesday that the Google Play billing system has been banned in the Indian market from November 1. Google’s decision came after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed a fine on Google. Google’s support page has also been given information about turning off Play Billing. Long standing dispute between Indian developers and Google
There has been a long-standing dispute between Indian developers and Google over the Play billing system. Google is accused that its billing policy is not correct. On October 25, the Competition Commission of India fined Google for the second time. The Competition Commission of India imposed a fine of Rs 936.44 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position in Play Store policies. Earlier, Google was fined Rs 1,338 crore by the CCI.

Talking about the latest update in this matter, Google India’s support page reads, “Following the recent decision of the CCI, we have been working on Google Play’s billing system for developers to purchase digital goods and services for transactions by users in India. While, we review our legal options and make sure we continue to invest in Android and Play.”
It is worth noting that even though Google has discontinued Play Billing, applications are still being taken for Google Play Billing. This means that Indian developers can now offer in-app purchase facility to their users.
