Twitter’s Indian employees upset over layoffs, termed the decision derogatory.
Twitter India employees have said that humiliation and uncertainty are the right words to describe their current situation. A former Twitter employee says that this layoff was probably already apprehensive by the employees. In a message received on Friday to several employees of the company, it has been said that the employees will be employed by Twitter and will continue to get compensation and benefits till January 4, 2023.
More than 160 people were evacuated
The message said that within a week, you will get the details of the proposal for removal from the company and the full financial details from the non-working notice period. At that time you will also get the agreement and other information regarding separation from the company. This will include how to return your Twitter content (computer, badge, etc.). While there are no official numbers yet, Twitter has fired more than 160 people out of a team of around 250 people in India, according to data seen by some employees.
Some employees claimed that they are yet to receive any communication from Twitter about their employment status. A Twitter employee has said that some employees have not received any messages. It was told in the previous email that those who have been hired will be informed about their role. Terming the layoffs as harsh and humiliating, most Twitter employees praised the company’s good work culture. He said that being part of the old Twitter culture is something that will be greatly missed.
Another employee said that Twitter had given employees the option to work from anywhere. Along with this, the employees were given the freedom to communicate and do whatever they felt for the company. He told that the work environment and culture that has been there in Twitter, it is difficult to find anywhere else. We don’t know what our future holds. Another employee said that he had recently joined the company and the sudden dismissal had taken a career blow and was very insulting.
