America gave a blow to Xi Jinping, banned these tech companies.
America has hammered the giant tech companies of China. The US Communications Commission (FCC) has banned the sale and import of communications equipment made by China’s Huawei and ZTE companies. The FCC has banned the use of some Chinese-made video systems, citing national security as an “unacceptable risk”.
In the US, the five-member Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted unanimously on the new rules. Under this, the import and sale of certain technology products that pose a security threat to America’s critical infrastructure will be stopped.
It is the latest in a string of US sanctions on Chinese technology that began under the previous Trump administration. FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel said, “Non-trusted communications devices are not authorized for use within our borders.”
The Huawei company has currently refused to make any comment in this regard. The FCC move will affect products from companies such as Hikvision, Hytera and Dahua, makers of widely used video surveillance cameras, as well as Huawei and ZTE.
More apprehension of use of tech companies in spying of Americans
This decision taken in America means that now Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Hytera and Dahua companies can neither import goods from China and sell them in America, nor will their products be approved for sale in the country. The US fears that Beijing could use Chinese tech companies to spy on Americans.
America-China relations are getting worse
America has hammered Chinese giant tech companies at a time when its relations with China are deteriorating even more. However, the Presidents of both the countries had recently met and talked about furthering the relationship between the two on business.
