Apple stores in India: Tata Group will open 100 Apple stores across the country, selling everything from iPhone to iPad.
Tata Group is preparing to open about 100 small Apple stores across the country soon. Popular Apple products like iPhone and iPad will be sold in these stores. A report in Economic Times (ET) states that Apple is in talks with Tata-owned Infinity Retail for stores. Infinity Retail operates Croma stores in India. Let us inform that earlier the matter of manufacturing of iPhone by Tata Group had come to the fore, for which talks were also held between Tata and Wistron Corp.
The report claims that Apple stores will be opened in malls as well as high-street and neighborhood locations and will be smaller than Apple’s premium reseller stores. Typically, premium reseller stores are spread over 1,000 sq ft, but these Tata stores will be built across 500-600 sq ft across the country. The smaller stores will sell iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
Stores will be opened around the mall
As per reports, Tata has started talks with premium malls and high streets for space for these stores. At the same time, Apple’s first company-owned flagship store can be launched in India in the March quarter in Mumbai. Industry experts say that Apple wants to increase the sales of Apple products with the help of both company partners and retailers. According to CyberMedia Research (CMR), over 1.7 million iPhones were sold in India between July and September.
Apple increasing production
Apple is said to be focusing on increasing sales in India and is planning to expand its production capacity. Another report states that Apple has also asked three producers in India, Wistron, Foxconn and Pegatron, to triple their production in the next two years. Apple is adding manpower and assembly lines to achieve this. With the increase in production, India-made iPhones will also be able to be exported.
Tata will make iPhone
Let us inform that earlier claims of manufacturing of iPhone were being made by Tata Group in India. Tata Group had also held talks with Wistron Corp. regarding the manufacturing of iPhone. Let us tell you that Tata Electronics, a Tata Group company, already supplies components to Apple from its factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Earlier in a Bloomberg report, it was said that discussions are going on between the two companies regarding this deal. Tata may also buy a stake in Wistron’s Indian operations. Not only this, both the companies can also set up a new assembling plant together.
