Air India: Air India’s domestic flights delayed due to lack of cabin crew, officials claim.

Domestic flight operations of Air India, which has been shifted from the control of the central government to the control of the Tata Group, are getting delayed due to the shortage of cabin crew. Officers having knowledge of the matter have disclosed this. This news has come at a time when at least six Air India flights to the US and Canada were delayed last week due to a shortage of cabin crew.

Officials aware of the matter have said that due to engineering related reasons, many Air India aircraft are unable to fly. An official said that Air India flight AI-805 from Mumbai to Delhi, which was to reach Mumbai again at 7.30 pm, was rescheduled for 4 am the next morning.

According to experts, to deal with the shortage of cabin crew, Air India is trying to bring back the personnel who had applied for VRS sometime back in November.

It is being told that due to shortage of cabin crew, more than 200 crew members have flown overtime despite the DGCA cap of maximum 1000 hours of flying in a year and they are not able to fly for the next two months.
