He said that BSNL has passed through very bad phase. A lot of funds were diverted mainly due to some political parties during the time of UPA. Vaishnav said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a mega project worth Rs 1.64 lakh crore for the revival of BSNL and it will completely replace the Telecom PSU (Power Supply Unit).


BSNL 5G will be launched soon


The Union Minister said that BSNL will soon launch 4G and 5G networks as per Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Our own engineers will bring 4G and 5G technology and it will be a matter of pride for us. Gone are the times when people used BSNL as a cash cow. Vaishnav told in a program of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) on Thursday that BSNL is also going to rollout 5G service soon. For this, BSNL will work closely with Tata Consultancy Services and around 1.35 lakh towers will be installed across the country. All these may take 5 to 7 months.


Cheapest mobile data in india


Vaishnav said that currently, mobile data in India is the cheapest in the world, as one GB of data is available in India for less than Rs 20. Whereas during the UPA regime it used to cost around Rs 200 per GB. He said that work would be done to increase the fiber network by merging Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited (BBNL) with BSNL.
