Allegations on BYJU’S- Whose earnings-same fees: The company said- We will help financially weak parents.
Byju’s will now test students’ parents before signing them up. With this their financial status will be ascertained and accordingly the fees of the children will be fixed. Priyanka Kanungo, chairman of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), has made these allegations.
Priyanka Kanungo says that the parents of children who apply for online courses under Byju’s will have to give Byju’s ‘Affordability Test’.
Serious allegations against the company
NCPCR had received a complaint that BYJU’s is buying phone numbers of children and threatening their parents that if they do not buy the course, the child’s future will be ruined.
Kanungo said that Bajus will soon start the affordability test. According to Kanungo, it is wrong to harass children in this way. This test will increase the difficulties of those parents whose salary is less than 25,000 as they will not be able to buy BYJU’S course due to poor financial condition.
Byju said- we want to help the student
Byju’s says it will no longer sell tuition courses to children from low-income families. According to the company, the financial status of the family will be tested to see whether the family is in a position to pay the tuition fees or avail loan for the same. Such courses will not be offered to families with income less than 25 thousand.
In his statement to the Economic Times, Bajus said that he is not directly offering loans to students, but wants to help students financially wherever they need finance. BYJU’S will help financially weak parents by connecting them to third party banks or reputed financial institutions.
