Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman has directed telecom companies to improve the quality of calling and other services. In view of the increasing cases of call drops and complaints regarding other services, the Department of Telecommunications held a meeting with major telecom companies on Wednesday.
This meeting took place at a time when 5G network has started across the country. Till now 50 cities are getting 5G service. According to sources, in the two-hour long meeting, the companies were asked to identify problem areas. The companies also made detailed presentations on the current level and standards of quality of services.
Vaishnav gave signs of strictness
In September, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had indicated that quality standards of telecom service could be made more stringent. He had made it clear that the industry has to make necessary improvements in telecom service quality and the government has also initiated major reforms in the sector.
