1,600 people are losing their jobs every day in the world: Indian CEO said in PwC survey – there will be no retrenchment or salary cut in India.
On an average, more than 1,600 tech professionals are being laid off every day across the globe this month. On the other hand, in the annual survey of global accounting firm PwC, Indian CEOs have said that there may be some difficulties this year, but India’s position is strong.
According to the website layoff.fyi, in 2022, more than 1,000 companies laid off 1,54,336 employees. The beginning of 2023 has also not been good for tech professionals. In the first 15 days of the month, 91 tech companies have removed more than 24,000 professionals, but in the case of India, the situation is different.
In PwC’s Annual CEO Survey, 85% of Indian CEOs said they do not plan to lay off. 96% said that they also do not plan to take a pay cut. 4,410 CEOs from 105 countries/territories participated in PwC’s 26th Annual Global CEO Survey. These also include 68 CEOs of India.
78% of the CEOs said that they believe that the pace of growth of the global economy will slow down in the next 12 months. 57% expressed a positive expectation about the growth of the Indian economy.
PwC Chairperson Sanjeev Krishna said CEOs of Indian companies are optimistic about economic growth despite global challenges, but they need to focus on managing external risks and maintaining profits.
