He released this 6G vision document of India. PM Modi has launched 6G Research and Development Test Bed. Following the successful launch of 5G in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the India 6G Vision Document and launched a 6G Research and Development (R&D) test bed.

Inaugurating the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) regional office and innovation center during an event at Vigyan Bhawan, he said the 6G R&D test bed will help in faster adoption of the new technology in the country. The government said that the India 6G Vision Document and 6G Test Bed will provide an enabling environment for innovation, capacity building and rapid technology adoption in the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India was only a user of telecom technology before 4G, but today it is moving towards becoming the largest exporter of telecom technology in the world. He said, India is working with many countries to change the work culture of the whole world with the power of 5G. The Prime Minister further said, these 100 new labs will help in developing 5G applications according to the unique needs of India. Be it 5G smart classrooms, agriculture, intelligent transport systems or healthcare applications, India is working fast in every direction.

Noting that India’s 5G standards are part of the global 5G system, he said India will work closely with ITU to standardize future technologies. He added that the new Indian ITU field office will also help create the right environment for 6G. Industry lauded the Prime Minister’s move to start 6G test beds in the country. Arvind Bali, CEO of the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), said 6G holds the potential to deliver immense speeds with low latency and low jitter rates for high-demand scenarios and an estimated 100 million active 6G devices by 2030.

He said, by providing a platform for academic research, industry and startups, the 6G test bed can pave the way for the development of skilled and innovative workforce. In August last year, PM Modi had said that the government is preparing to launch 6G by the end of this decade.
