25 days later, Sun Pharma has reported that a ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the information breach. Sun Pharma said that while attacking its IT systems, the hackers breached some file systems and stole personal data.


Sun Pharma said in a statement, “The company took immediate steps to prevent and rectify the impact of this incident on IT security. Prevention and remediation protocols were employed to mitigate the threat. Additional measures have been taken to ensure the security of infrastructure and data.


As part of its containment strategy, the company began a recovery process by isolating its network. As a result, the business operations of the company were affected. Sun Pharma has also said that it is expected to see a drop in revenue as a result. The company said it is currently unable to assess other possible adverse effects of the incident. This includes other security-related incidents and the potential for litigation.
